In 2012, ASC and independent engineer consultant Herman Hartman of Germany jointly developed the 'Road-Rail Crane' concept for Arcelor-Mittal's iron ore mine in Liberia. The Terex-Demag AC200 all terrain crane was chosen as the crane and Zweiweg (Germany) was responsible for final engineering and manufacturing. From this experieicne the RX3-130 was created.
RX3-130
The RX3-130 road-rail crane is a modified all-terrain crane with a rail bogie system that can be attached underneath. The crane is manufactured by Demag in Germany and retrofitted with bogies in the same country. It can travel up to 70 kph on a normally maintained railway and has its own air braking system. Once at the work site, the crane can mobilize itself back and forth on the railway by a hydrostatic drive on the bogie system. Counterweights can be used for high capacity lifting, which are transported to the site on a flat car.
